Femke Bol will make her first 800m outing at the Meeting Metz Moselle Athlelor Credit Mutuel in Metz, France on Sunday 8 February.

The twice 400m hurdles world champion and world record-holder for the 400m indoors, shocked the sport when she announced she would be stepping up in distance in October 2025.

Expectation has been bubbling over where the Dutch superstar will make her 800m debut. Now, the wait is over and her first race will come at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver meeting, one of 23 meetings from the indoor season being live streamed by European Athletics channels.

Exact streaming details will be revealed in due course.

Bol competing on "known ground"

Bol’s decision to move to the 800m caused a frenzy of speculation over how she will fare in an already-stacked event with European rivals including Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson (GBR), world 800m silver medallist Georgia Hunter Bell (GBR) and Diamond League winner Audrey Werro (SUI).

But her willingness to step into the competitive arena just four months into her transition points to encouraging signs in her winter training.

Speaking on Moselle TV, Meet Director Dominique Abisse said: "She has chosen a place that reassures her, where she is in known ground, and a land that she appreciates."

Bol opened her season in Metz in 2024, winning both the 200m and 400m in blistering times of 22.64 and 49.69. It repeated her sprint double from the previous season where she clocked 22.87 and 49.96, her first ever sub-50 second performance indoors.
