Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis has mapped out a busy schedule of competitions ahead of the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Kujawy Pomorze in Poland from 20-22 March.

After a two-week training camp on Polish soil in Spala, Karalis will make his season’s debut at the Orlen Cup in Lodz on 25 January. Karalis won at this meeting last year with a 5.92m clearance.

Karalis will also compete at the Perch’Xtrem in Caen on 31 January before headlining his own meeting, the Fly Athens pole vault meeting on 7 February. This will be his first competition on home soil since he cleared a national record and lifetime best of 6.08m at the Greek Championships last summer.

Looking ahead to the rest of February, Karalis will also vault in Liege, Belgium on 19 February before travelling south to France for the All-Star Perche in Clermont-Ferrand on 22 February when Armand Duplantis is due to make his season’s debut.

Karalis will return to Greece to take part in his national indoor championships at the end of February before continuing his indoor campaign at the Perche Elite Tour in Rouen on 7 March and the Mondo Classic in Uppsala on 12 March ahead of the World Athletics Indoor Championships.

Karalis has won medals at the last six championships he has contested, including at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn last March where he shared the title with Menno Vloon before concluding his best ever season in 2025 with silver behind Duplantis at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
